Oeuf Café Set To Open In Hove

The egg: a symbol of new life, rebirth and regeneration for troubled times. Whether this was the intended concept behind Hove’s new Oeuf Café, we’re not sure (maybe they just really like omelettes). But we’ll make it our business to find out, when this Parisian-inspired, independent café, bar and kitchen flings open its (duck-egg green) doors on 1st October.

Owner Amber Sterck was put on furlough in March and, like all good entrepreneurs, transformed adversity into opportunity by “putting all my eggs into one basket to open Oeuf Café”. Her gag, not ours.

Although we don’t have menu specifics yet, we’re promised classic yet glamorous breakfasts, smoothie bowls and Moroccan-inspired skillets, locally sourced ingredients and cocktails — all with vegan, veggie and gluten-free options.

With an on-site florist, a wine and cocktail lounge, sea views at the front and a ‘secret garden’ around the back, it’s certainly an intriguing premise. And, from the pics we’ve seen, it does look very homely. We’ll report back with a review of Oeuf once we’ve scoffed our way through the menu. And scrambled together half a dozen more egg puns.

Oeuf is at 8 Third Avenue (formerly Planet India), Hove
It’ll open 8am-6pm Mon-Wed, 8am-9pm Thu-Sat, and 9am-5pm on Sundays, from 1st Oct 2020
