Melting Vinyl and local favourites Dog In The Snow play host to a special internationally-diverse female-fronted Christmas party at the new Hope and Ruin on Queens Road on December 11th.
Headliners are Manchester duo Bernard + Edith whose stark haunting electro-pop has been compared to London Grammar and is sometimes reminiscent of the Cocteau Twins. Their debut album ‘Jem’ is out on Bella Union and showcases their haunting swirling sound, sometimes sensuous, often mysterious, always engaging.
Support comes from Hong Kong-born, Brighton-based producer Flavia Aliverti aka Foreign Skin, fresh from a spot at the Mutations Festival playing her audio-visual sample-driven treat of a set.
Early starters will also get to see the excellent chanteuse Clémentine Blue, aka Tiger Lion, formerly of France and now of this parish, and whose first EP ‘Outremer’ is soon to be released in limited edition on the hand-crafted ex-Brighton Nuremburg-based Woodland Recordings.
Rounding off the night or filling in the spaces is Polish-born experimental DJ Eva Bowan.
