Dizzy Gillespie Afro Cuban Experience, Thurs 7th Feb

Posted by Steve Clements

With the balloon-cheeked bebop trumpeter long gone, this legacy band with a fine pedigree hit town, blasting out an evening of hard-hitting jazz to blow the winter blues away. One of Gillespie’s Afro Cuban influences was legendary bandleader Machito, whose son will be joining the orchestra for this show. The band is directed by heavyweight bassist John Lee who has played with just about everyone so this could be a benchmark gig for all you jazz heads.
