Fontaines DC, Thurs 6th Dec

One of our highlights at this year’s Great Escape festival was five-piece Dublin band, Fontaines DC. Their blistering post-punk/garage set recalled the early Fall in its boundless energy and lyrical dexterity. Vocalist Grian Chatten’s delivery was mesmerizing. Unable to keep still, he paced the stage, totally focused, while his four bandmates drove the music on relentlessly. By the end, he had a nosebleed: literally bleeding for his art! On their upcoming visit to Brighton, they play the Prince Albert. Our advice, catch them now in this intimate setting because soon they’ll be playing way larger venues. They’re that good. Check out single ‘Chequeless Reckless’ and tell us we’re wrong.
