Frazey Ford, Tuesday 27th October

James Walker’s award-winning Brightonhelmstone Promotions has been putting on quality Americana shows in Brighton and beyond for the past 15 years and currently books acts for Mid Sussex Music Hall, in Hassocks, amongst other events.

Frazey Ford sits perfectly with the Brighthelmstone ethos and James has pulled off a coup by securing Ford’s only UK date this year with a performance at Brighton Dome’s Corn Exchange on 27th October.

First finding fame as a founding member of Vancouver’s Be Good Tanyas in 1999, Ford released her debut album Obadiah in 2010 to critical acclaim with its blending of soul and country influences.

Her most recent album, her third, U Kin B the Sun is a combination of soul and psychedelia with Southern-fried ’70s funk that builds on her earlier collaboration with Al Green’s backing band, the Hi Rhythm Section, to record her acclaimed 2014 solo album, Indian Ocean.

Of her most recent release Ford said “On this record I freed myself from the folk-writing format, and it’s been a whole different exploration for me”. This is a rare opportunity to see this singular performer in the wonderfully refurbished Corn Exchange.

Frazey Ford plays Brighton Dome’s Corn Exchange on 27th October.

For ticket information and further details, see the Dome website here.
