You might think that being a widely acclaimed, long-serving cult band on a creative roll would make you immune to certain music industry woes, but Nightingales would disagree. Having been dumped by their fourth record label in a row, Robert Lloyd’s rough-edged rock’n’roll survivors have cut their losses and stuck their new album, witheringly titled ‘For Fuck’s Sake’, out themselves. Their stand-up mate Ted Chippington, king of the anti-comics, and former Brightonian Helen McCookerybook (formerly of Peel favourites The Chefs and Helen And The Horns) keep the mood chipper.
