Oxjam returns to Brighton on October 17th with a bigger and better line-up than ever before. The event isn’t just in Brighton, oh no, 50 locations across the UK are all taking part to help raise money to help fight poverty and suffering around the world through emerging local bands and musicians. This year’s Brighton Takeover is a multi-venue affair: over 80 bands will play at eight venues throughout the city, including Bleach, Prince Albert, The Verdict, The Joker, Pav Tav, Neighbourhood, Marwood and Under the Bridge studios.

If lo-fi grunge is your thing, check out Bermuda Ern at the Joker. No, not into that? How about ska soul? Then head to Under the Bridge for local stalwarts The Meow Meows. Meanwhile, Wimbledon’s chauntress Chloe Leigh will be bringing her brand of acoustic balladry to Neighbourhood. If jazz is more your thing, check out Vels Trio at The Verdict, but if you’re after some insightful folk pop you’d best be heading to Marwood coffee shop for Warsaw Radio. Silvers Got Strings will be bringing their crunchy folk to the Prince Albert, while pop-punkers Young Attenborough will be blasting through their set at the Pav Tav and Racetrack Gospel will be doing the same with their neo-indie pop at Bleach. With tickets at £9 for the whole lot you can’t complain – even if wasn’t for a good cause.
