Rock House Festival, Sat 27th July

Now in its third year, Carousel’s Rock House Festival is a real testament to how learning disabled and non-learning disabled bands can come together to create a truly inclusive scene. Their monthly night at The Green Door Store draws the best in local groups, such as Fragile Creatures, Octopuses and Cockwomble who play alongside bands and artists with learning disabilities.

This year’s festival headliner is Daniel Wakeford, who is probably best known for stealing the show (and viewers’ hearts) on The Undateables TV show but he carries his charisma and charm onto the stage with his live act. A long-time Rock House supporter, his energy is infectious and each gig is a complete joy. He has released two albums and is playing this home town gig ahead of an appearance at the Standon Calling festival.

Cockwomble are a Brighton trio who have been building a reputation for themselves based on heavy gigging and a trio of highly-praised Tory-baiting EPs. Their repertoire includes a tribute to Joey Ramone and a cutting critque of Radio 1’s playlist and they continue to tell it like it is on new song ‘Goebbels & Orwell’.

Also on the bill are Octopuses’ electro-pop alumni Fruity Water, Toadfrog Hilton, a psych blues outfit featuring members of The Curst Sons, Rock House regulars and probably the world’s premiere learning disabled metal heads Zombie Crash and Guy Lloyd’s spandex rockers Sock.

Add to this a full supporting bill, plus a range of stalls, drinks and food this looks to be another amazing event for all.

Rock House Festival, Green Door Store, Saturday 27th July 2019 from 3pm to 10pm.

Tickets can be purchased in advance here.
