Considering Blah Blah Blah are celebrating just their fourth birthday with this takeover from super-cool London club Nightslugs, they’ve certainly made a pretty serious mark on the scene. Their previous guests read like a who’s who of the cooler end of the electro scene – from Major Lazer and Fake Blood to Joy Orbison and DFA’s Juan Mclean.
Tonight L-Vis 1990, Bok-Bok and the gang treat us to the heavenly twinkling of Girl Unit’s ‘Wut’ which turns Digital into a melodic cornucopia of appreciative whoops and whistles. Then Jam City’s ‘Magic Drops VIP’ hits us with its mechanised production line beat and slide-whistle synth to result in a woozy paradise of blissful disorientation.
With roadblocked nights for the last two super-guests, Caribou and Annie Mac, there’s no doubt that Jonny, Kristian, Pete and Vegas have got the promotion side nailed. With their stunning debut single, ‘Left’, there’s no telling where this might end up.
