Wild Life Festival, 11th-12th June

After putting Shoreham firmly on the festival map last year, Wild Life returns to the town’s art deco airport on 11th-12th June. The brainchild of popular dance acts Disclosure and Rudimental, the 2015 festival sold out in 72 hours, featured international music stars such as Nas and Mark Ronson, and went on to win Best New Festival at the UK Festival Awards.

Despite some organisational errors, namely bus and ticket queues, the debut weekend festival was a resounding success. As our reviewer said at the time, for a first attempt, Wild Life certainly got a lot of things right.

In any case, with residents given priority at the box office, festival goers will be hard pushed to find another Sussex venue quite like this one. This summer, the festival promises to fly even higher with Wild Life’s two curators buoyed by a musical shoal of current and classic talent including: Ice Cube, De La Soul, James Bay, Skepta, Carl Cox, Annie Mac, Bastille, Busta Rhymes, DJ EZ and local community project, the Shoreham All Stars.

Amongst the vast expanse of the runway fields, revellers can party at four stages complete with huge screens, phenomenal light shows and huge PA systems. Catch Disclosure, Annie Mac and Skepta getting the crowd going at the main stage, DJ EZ and Four Tet performing DJ sets at the Warehouse Project’s lightbox construction, De La Soul headlining the Big Top tent, and Andy C and Kano playing the established Brighton promoters’ Supercharged tent.
