Dog of Man, Wed 27th Feb

The endearing hyperbole of the critic who called Dog of Man “a unique life experience” is, it turns out, entirely accurate. A formidable live act, this Brighton four-piece came across like dream headliners for an end-of-the-world party during a seismic show at the Green Door Store in January. Their sleazy steam train of noise jolts and thunders through malevolent punk rock and surf riffs, with pained and absurd lyrics (their songs have names like ‘Head On A Stick’ and ‘Chaos Reigns’) and a masterfully deployed accordion. Crucially, for all their sense of anarchy, they also unfailingly make you want to dance – there’s a judicious, satisfying rhythm stylishly underpinning their songs, and a communal catharsis to be had from their wild energy.

Support comes from alt-folk duo Bee & Jackrabbit and singer-songwriters Chris J Driver and Jai Blue. More info on the Facebook event here.
