You can find links in our redesigned, better-than-ever online listings, on our website previews and flagged up in the magazine with the logo above. Already we have tickets for Gallows, Mystery Jets and Orbital, plus hundreds of other Brighton gigs and club nights. Promoters and anyone else who’d like to know more should visit tinyurl.com/SOURCEtix.

Pride party
At the start of the year it looked touch and go as to whether Pride would take place this summer at all. Fortunately, the city has pulled together to put on what could well be the biggest Pride party yet. The colourful LGBT Parade gets underway from Madeira Drive on Sat 1st at 11am. Tickets for the subsequent Preston Park party are available on the gate, starting at £10 for students. Fatboy Slim, Freemasons and Alexandra Burke are the main attractions,

Skatepark approved
It’s been a long time coming but the council has finally approved a concrete skatepark for The Level as part of the £2.2m Lottery grant-funded restoration. So far there’s £150,000 to build the sunken, polished concrete park north of the Rose Walk. There’s been a skate park at The Level since the 70s, but it’s been in a pretty poor state for a while so this is great news for the city’s skaters and BMX riders.

Dakota dies
Dakota Fanning puts on her best Brighton accent in Now Is Good, a BBC Films production hitting the cinemas this month. Adapted from Jenny Downham’s novel Before I Die, Fanning plays a teenager attempting to tick off her life’s ambitions in the face of terminal illness. Set in the city, the extensive location filming includes the beach, the Downs and the shops and side streets of North Laine. Jeremy Irvine, Paddy Considine and Sussex’s Skins actress Kaya Scodelario also star.

Beauty donations
We all have unwanted beauty products that we’ve left neglected on the bathroom shelf, so why not put them to good use? My Swish are holding a clothes swapping event at the Lansdowne Place Hotel on Sun 16th where unused toiletries will be donated to women who have experienced domestic violence and deserve a little luxury in their lives. The more products you bring along, the more points you get and the more points you have, the more you can exchange for others’ pre-loved fashion items. Simple.

Bluetones pop quiz
Mark Morriss, the affable former Bluetones singer, hosts a musical pub quiz at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar on Weds 12th. The night is part of Morriss’ funding drive to finance his latest solo album, so tickets are available only through his PledgeMusic page. Your £15 will eventually bring you a pre-release download of the finished record, and this is a fun chance to hang out with the man himself, who may knock out a few songs too.

Board of Brighton
Paul Stapleton, cartoonist and musician (Pog, Anal Beard), has rather a love/hate relationship with Brighton. His regular comic strip ‘BN1’ satirises, and occasionally just rips the piss out of, the colourful characters that make Brighton such a wonderful and irritating place to live. He’s now developed the brilliant ‘BN1 – The Board Game’, where players battle to have the most interesting day in the city, encountering dozens of local eccentrics and clichés en route. Copies can be ordered from worldofbeardandpog.co.uk/preorder.html

Good food
Brighton & Hove Food And Drink Festival is back for its Autumn Harvest, Fri 7th – Sun 16th. The usual array of cookery demonstrations and tasting events include events at such SOURCE favourites as Moshi Moshi, The Brewery Tap and Boho Gelato, and there’s family activities including Sussex Cheese Bowling and an apple juice assault course (the Wobblegate Wobblympics) down on Hove Lawns. Don’t forget it’s the chilli-tastic Fiery Foods Festival on Victoria Gardens, Fri  14th – Sun 16th too.

Furry fun
Nick Cave. Mayor Bill Randall. Jimmy from The Bobby McGee’s. Three Brighton icons, united by some luxuriant moustache work. Celebrate the world of facial fuzz at the British Beard & Moustache Championships at the Corn Exchange on Sat 15th.  With 12 categories of hirsuteness on display, including a Best Made False Beard for those women and children struggling to grow their own. Michael ‘Atters’ Attree and Baron Bartholomew Black are your glamorous hosts.
