Cubzoa Announces Debut Album and Live Show

Jack Wolter is an extremely busy musician. This year he has toured the world with CMAT as her guitarist, released an album with the tragically lost too soon Nell Smith, has tour managed Anna B Savage across Europe and is playing for his sister Lilly in her My Precious Bunny project.

Somehow in amongst all of that he has found time to record the debut album for his long standing Cubzoa solo project, whilst also developing a three piece live version of the project, whose debut performance was at this years Great Escape (review here).

‘Unfold In The Sky’ will be released by Bella Union on October 24th. To accompany the announcement he has released ‘Choke’, which features a contribution from Nanna Schannong of label mates Lowly. It is a rolling slice of dreamy pop, propelled by a simple compelling baseline, and dominated by the complimentary vocals and warm melodies of the music, which hides the sadness in the lyrical content about the end of a long term relationship.

As a taster for the album, it strongly suggests that fans of Penelope Isles will certainly be able to enjoy that unique squidgy happy place that the Wolter siblings provide so very well. Indeed, like waiting for busses one hopes with My Precious Bunny album will not be far behind.

Jack will also be playing a headline show on December 12th to launch the album, in the ever delightful Alphabet, which appears to be becoming the discerning record launch venue of choice for many Brighton based musicians. This provide a perfect opportunity to get entranced by and inhabit the album before having it wrapped around your ears int eh live context.
