Kate Tempest, Fri 9th December

Posted by Jasmine Scott

Kate Tempest – Ted Hughes Prize winning poet, Mercury Music Prize nominated songwriter and rapper, Sunday Times Bestselling author and 2017’s Brighton Festival director.

At the age of 30, Tempest has garnered enough critical acclaim for a whole lifetime, due to her prolific artistic output and ability to communicate the lives and emotions of the modern day working class.

Her second album, ‘Let Them Eat Chaos’, is an epic poem portraying the lives of seven people habiting one London street.

Tempest vocalises the feelings, dreams, anxieties and relationships of the characters who lay awake at 4.18am, and describes the pressure created by the current political climate in the UK and across the globe.

Her performance at Hove’s All Saints Church will be a fitting finish to a year which has thrown up many surprises on an international scale, and will be the perfect taster of what to expect during next year’s Brighton Festival.
