Street Source No.3

This is the third edition of Street Source, a regular feature showcasing photos taken around Brighton over the course of a month by one of our photographers. The idea is to share spontaneous moments around town – be it incidental street scenes, snapshots of people’s lives or images of the city as a landscape. Each month we’ll have images from a different photographer. Here’s what Luke Bateman snapped during the crazy month of May.

Having lived in Brighton for 24 years I know just how alive the city becomes this month with Brighton Fringe and The Great Escape. The city just don’t sleep for an entire month. There is just so much to do! So armed with a lens that is over twice my age I went out and did my best to capture the city this month.

The city always looks nicest from one of the many hills surrounding it.

North Street, Looking at New Street. The signage this year was all out.

The Warren, St Peters Church
Almost as if Brighton didn’t already have enough pubs, during the Fringe a few more pop up!

Spiegeltent, The Old Steine
Seriously, Brighton has so many bars!

Bond Street
For every bar there are two buskers filling the street with music.

Gardner Street
And there’s always your trusty Deliveroo Driver outside GBK.

Pavilion Gardens
With the Fringe on, there are constant performances of all different kinds.

ZOAX, Volks
With the Great Escape came hundreds of bands of all different genres to tear the city apart.

Kensington Gardens
With all the craziness of the month, there is one thing you can count on: Kensington Gardens will always be packed.
