Death Valley Surfers, 20th Aug & 2nd Sept

Describing their music as crazy rock ‘n’ roll The Death Valley Surfers have their own style of punkabilly mixed in with country, surf, plenty of humour and a big fat swinging saxophone. Their current line-up includes Mark Horse from Brighton’s own Bone Orchard and Red Raucous plus John Reddington, a founding member of those infamous grass skirt wearing, food fighters King Kurt.

A typical gig is about having a party with the audience, which can include a beer drinking contest and you may even get a swig of tequila while they play the classic of the same name.

Despite having formed in 1998 they’ve only played in Brighton half a dozen times so they are making up for lost time with two shows in quick succession. Firstly they’ll be firing up the crowd at everyone’s favourite party in a park, The Brunswick Festival on Saturday 20th August, at around 6pm, closely followed by a guaranteed sweatbox session at The Prince Albert on Friday 2nd September with The Irradiates who surf in from France and London psychobillies Thee Creepfreaks.
