Sussex Pink Week, 6th-12th March

Sussex Pink Week invites you to get creative at a series of artistic events across the city, designed to raise funds for breast cancer charities and share awareness of the disease. Pink Week was founded in 2011 by the daughter of Guardian columnist Dina Rabinovitch, and became a popular university campus event before making its Brighton debut last year.

Kicking things off for the 2017 event, on Tuesday March 7th Sofar Sounds hosts a secret live music event with an all-female line-up of musicians playing at a Brighton venue to be announced to ticket holders on the day. You can apply for tickets here –  a portion of the price goes to breast cancer charities.

Friday March 10th, meanwhile, sees Pop-up Brighton host an eclectic club night called Glitter Nips at the Tempest Inn on the seafront. Come down between 10pm and 3am to customise your Pink Week t-shirt, learn to make your own brooch, get your caricature portrait drawn – or maybe just head upstairs for a dance. All proceeds to breast cancer charities. Tickets available here.

On Sunday March 12th, at the Hope and Ruin, Cult Milk hosts a drop-in creative workshop event between 6pm and 9pm where local artists help visitors to make screenprints, tote bags, pom-poms and other fun items. All this, plus a raffle and acoustic music from local performers. Admission is free.

Check the Pink Week Facebook page for more announcements and events, or donate to the project via Just Giving.

Competition!
We’ve got a pair of tickets for Glitter Nips and t-shirts (like the one in the pic above) to give away to the winners of our Facebook competition. All you have to do is leave a comment telling us what item or body part would be best if it was permanently covered in glitter. However, to make sure we’ve got your details you’ll also need to be on the Brighton Source mailing list. You can sign up here. The competition is now closed.
