SOURCE New Year’s Eve Party

Ignore the pessimists (“Oh it’s too much pressure,” they moan), New Year’s Eve is the best knees up of the annum. Providing you can make it to midnight without being sick on your party dress, there’s so much joy in sharing that midnight stroke – stop your giggling at the back – with the people you care about. And January 31st was especially joyful for the SOURCE team as we got to share it with 600 or so of the people closest to us – our readers.

You know that when we throw a party we like to get as many of our talented friends on the decks as possible? Well, Sam Schtumm had people dancing from 9pm thanks to his non-more-hip disco updates. As early as 10pm Ben Restlesslist had the place jumping to his mix of R&B and indie (believe us, it worked) while yours truly flew his editor’s flag by playing the year’s music blog faves. But highlight of the night had to be the video scratching set from DMC-hot shot JFB. His stuttering countdown meant that when midnight hit the euphoria took the roof off. From there Craig from Transformer threw down some killer electro twelves and Dave Richards from the legendary She Likes Parties took it home with some fresh indie electro.

Meanwhile WholeLottaRosie hosted Now That’s What I Call A Backroom with every single track on all 150 CDs from the Now compilation series which she trawled for six hours. Also Justin Robertson and Guy Williams London electro house outfit held their own against the SOURCE team downstairs. It was one hell of a way to see the year in and if you joined us, thank you.
