Carousel presents The Rock House

“For those about to rock, we salute you!” so said AC/DC way back when. But this boldest of statements raises a number of questions. Did they mean on a Monday night too? Are people who have a learning disability included? The answers, filed under “Hell Yes!”, can be found at the Green Door Store this November at The Rock House

These famously raucous nights have become a firm fan favourite with line-ups that include musicians with and without disabilities, often in the same band. Hosted by Brighton-based arts charity Carousel, The Rock House was started back in 2010 as a response to the lack of opportunities for performers with a learning disability to play live. The aim was to try and break down barriers between learning disabled and non learning disabled artists and the night quickly grew in popularity. Past performers include the mighty Daniel Wakeford whose band featured members of The Go! Team, local good-time funsters Brassic Parp and the quite marvellously named Fuzzbomb Flashband.

This coming edition features Shark Stuff, Demi, Rock House mainstays The Black Bawlerz and headliners Beat Express, a band who really know how to put on a show with their driving rhythms and titanic riffs. So grab a ticket and get your finest salutes ready to, well, you know, rock!
