No Escape Festival: Fri 11th & Sat 12th May

Posted by Adam Peters

Squeezing into a weekend where at least four other festivals are taking place in Brighton, this two-nighter features local acts drawn from three specific indie genres; tweecore, dark cabaret and folk punk. The Bobby McGee’s, Annaca and Jack Wiseman do the honours on the Friday, with a Saturday line-up of The Beautiful Word, Mishkin Fitzgerald and Pog. Admission is free – “that’s actual free, rather than if you’re wearing a £60 wristband free” as the press release tersely puts it.

Adam Peters started out publishing football fanzines in the late 80s. Various jobs on video games magazines and a brief dalliance scripting photo love stories for the teen press followed. Switching media to television, he co-wrote David Walliams' first sitcom, was somehow once BAFTA-nominated and now concentrates on pre-school animation series. Coming full circle, in 2013 he launched a roller derby fanzine.
