Taina Asili & Evan Greer, Sun 21st June

Fast becoming the go-to venue for acoustic music, The Greys pub on Southover Street has arguably filled the niche left by the demise of the Sanctuary Cella a few years back. This Sunday the pub hosts an upbeat set of Afro-Latin reggae and rock from Puerto Rican singer Taina Asili alongside some impassioned acoustic anthems from transgender troubadour Evan Greer. Both are queer radical musicians from the US with a sharp political edge and a story to tell. Accompanying them on the Brighton leg of their European tour are local stalwarts, Pog, whose kitchen sink narratives are hitched to a kind of gypsy ska sound cooked up with guitar and violin.
