New Club FunFair Opens In June

A few years ago clubs and venues in Brighton were dropping like flies, but we’re hearing news of several new places opening. FunFair is the first to be announced – a freak show-themed affair from the London team behind the award-winning Bathhouse clubs. The address of the Brighton version, FunFair, is 12-15 Kings Road, which we reckon makes it the old Core Club, host to an early Klaxons gig, but closed for a long time now.
“With its 18th century vaults, bearded ladies, strong men and adult ball-pits, FunFair seeks to recreate the feel good fun factor cherished from our past,” says the slightly woolly press release.

“The sun warming your back, the smell of popcorn in the air, the cries of laughter as sweethearts grip hands and spin round and around in the waltzer, unable to focus on the kaleidoscopic ribbons of light whizzing past as they get lost in the experience of: the FunFair.”

OK, make of that what you will but in ever so slightly more concrete plans they promise “optical illusions hallways, discover hidden passages, secret sideshows and entertaining spectacles.”

It opens on 30th June so we might find out a bit more between now and then. And pop back for news on the other three venues when we get firm information – two are returns of old favourites (although possibly not in the way we’ve enjoyed them in the past) and the third is a promising club in an unlikely place.
