Angry // Dance // Party

We hear it all the time: the kids don’t go to clubs anymore. And while it’s true that some nights aren’t attracting a new breed, there is a huge swathe of young hipsters who love to throw shapes every bit as much as they wanna push down the front at a gig. In fact the old crew are being danced under the table, and not just in terms of energy.

The moves are being delivered in style, dropped without fear, arms and shoulders flailing, like dancing has finally moved on from the ‘low impact aerobics’ of the house years. Which is exactly what was happening at 13 Monsters offshoot, Angry//Dance//Party. With a relentless bass-heavy soundtrack of Bmore, blog hip hop, electro-dancehall and bastardised garage, it’s no wonder that the fresh crowd were crammed into Micro’s miniature dancefloor.

Angry//Dance//Party is a perfect example of why the annexing of Digital’s former back room was such a great idea. Without the huge main room to worry about, A//D//P can head straight into the underground sounds with no worries about alienating the randoms – mainly cos there are no randoms here. Everyone is a friend of a friend of a friend, brought down by word of mouth, and that makes for the best clubs. Not that it’s cliquey, the majority of people here seem to be down for the music, trawled and brought together from the internet to make a scene that isn’t based on geography. If you’ve been looking for a night where they don’t play the obvious Drop The Lime tunes, you’ve come to the right place.
